What's up ...
END OF SUMMER 2018
Summer is not quite over but here's a brief recap of what's been happening the last few months...
ACOUSTIC MADNESS: Acoustic Madness has been busy as usual playing regularly at the Uptown Grille (Tuesdays) in Commerce Twp. and Stony Creek Roadhouse (twice a month) in Shelby Twp.
June 11 Acoustic Madness played a benefit for Henry Ford Hospital's Living Donor Program at Ferndale's Otus Supply venue. They backed up Sacred Steel originator Calvin Cooke & Detroit's Queen of the Blues Thornetta Davis as well as playing a set of mostly originals. Acoustic Madness also appeared with Calvin that morning on WDIV's "Live In the D" TV show.
BOB & APRIL: Bob & April's brand new release YIN YANG has been released locally and will available digitally on the various formats (Spotify, iTunes Music, YouTube, etc..) in early September, 2018. Bob played all the instruments except the upright bass (played by Ken Pesick on "Karimba"). April supplies lead & background vocals. It has 10 brand new originals written by Bob & April separately & together, including "Summer Song", the video of which is on the home page of this site.
CARRY ON (CSNY Tribute Band): Bob and his longtime duo partner Ken McCauley hooked up with guitarist/singer Matt Hamann in early 2016 and quickly became one of the Midwest's top tribute bands. They perform to sold out crowds twice annually at the esteemed Ferndale, Michigan venue The Magic Bag, the next date there is December 15, 2018. They just recently performed at the inaugural Motor City Muscle Festival at Detroit's Hart Plaza. Myles Rutledge (drums), Jorian Olk-Szost of Acoustic Madness (bass) and Matt LaPinta (keyboards) round out the 6-piece band.
BOB & COLTRANE: Bob's 13 year old son Coltrane has been playing acoustic gigs with his dad for about 5 years and is coming into his own. 2018 has seen them play at Farmer's Markets in Farmington, Birmingham and Sterling Heights (Dodge Park). They performed at the annual Earth Day festival in Rochester this past April and will be performing at Porter's Orchards in Goodrich on the afternoons of September 9, 22 & 30 and October 14 & 28 this fall.
